This paper looks to offer a clearer picture of how the Underworld was outlined and deciphered by Augustus` most productive artist: Publius Vergilius Maro. The issues to be talked about are the relationship amongst reality and fiction in the 6th book of Aeneid and the part of memory in the making of Inferno. Another issue put in discourse is the part of insidiousness in common life in the Ancient Rome, a general public that envisioned an Underworld…

LIBRI: The Creation of The Romanian Literary Language Theorized by Gheorghe Asachi

It is well known that the birth of both Romanian language and literature as we know and appreciate them today has its roots in the nineteenth century. Ph.D. Petra-Denisa Tcacenco, in the article entitled The Creation of The Romanian Literary Language Theorized by Gheorghe Asachi, aims to focus on a personality that had a major role in the development of Romanian language: Gheorghe Asachi.

Gheorghe Asachi
Gheorghe Asachi

Known mostly as a poet, Asachi also dedicated himself to studies regarding the internal mechanisms of the Romanian language. He even got as far as consolidating his own point of view regarding the formation of the language. The article is based upon the prefaces of Gheorghe Asachi’s volumes and publications – all of them steps made with the purpose of creating a cultural identity.  Not only he was involved in cultural movements, but he also was in the middle of national resistance, for the nineteenth century was a time when foreign influences were seeping into the process of formation of Romanian language that in that time had neither grammatical rules, nor direction.

As our society is more and more interested in consumption, Radu Ursanu, professor at The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration from Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iaşi proposed an analysis on how the state could guarantee fair regulations for people’s consumption habits. With political instability, diplomatic conflicts and unexpected events, the world has become a less safe place. There is a free market of goods which, in the new global context, has to be controlled in order to maintain the consumer’s safety. And that happens because people’s interest in buying or selling has increased due to the variety of…

The article refers to both visual art and literature and their ancient legacy that is still visible today. There is no doubt that Antiquity was and still is a source of inspiration for the modern art. It is undeniable that without the ancient period, not only we would be unable to create a link between the modern art and the past, but…

Internet reviews can be seen as an efficient communication form, adapted to the digital world of today. However, researchers are, for the most part, oriented towards English based ones. The Romanian language reviews exhibit specific grammar rules and challenges that need customized methods to be dealt with. In their paper, Versavia-Maria Ancusa, Olimpia Ban, and Marian Cornea offer a method for aggregating heterogeneous Romanian language reviews into a homogenous corpus, fit for further analyse. Basically, their aim is to buil a eWOM data cleaning algorithm and apply it on the Romanian language. The algorithm will be based on a three-phase…

LiBRI: When Apologies Are Not Sincere Apologies

PhD Ahmad Kareem Salem Al-Wuhaili will present in the latest volume of the LiBRI journal an article about the duality of political apologies, aiming to reveal the fact that important political faces apologise without meaning it.

Unfortunately, apologising, which used to be a sincere statement of one’s feelings of guilt, sadness or pity, has become a tool for some politicians to solve problems by using means of emotional manipulation.  Politics has developed ever since the beginning the same concept; Chilton defined politics as a struggle for power, a fight between those who want to impose it and those who go against it. The paradox of politics is the fact that it functions based on two opposing features which are put together: cooperation and conflict.

In the latest volume of the LiBRI, Andreea Paris illustrates in the article “The Play on Incarnation as Artistic Creation in Allen Ginsberg’s ‘Howl’” different modalities used by Ginsberg in the poem “Howl” to express the concept of incarnation. In this essay, the author will approach the theological implication of incarnation illustrated in the poem “Howl”, in order to show Alan Ginsberg’s perspective upon the transcendence of spiritual elements into physical ones (the metaphysical act is conveyed into literary creation). Thus, the poet becomes a prophet who has to deliver a spiritual message. The musicality is also very important in…
